Scott’s Thoughts: Stick with Someone
Don’t go it alone in 2011!
“Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together.”
–Origin indeterminate (sometimes attributed to Vesta Kelly)
Snowflakes!Anyone who spent December trying to get on a flight out of the northeast has a special (and perhaps dreadful) understanding about the extraordinary power a few trillion snowflakes have when they get together. My condolences for those of you who were (and maybe still are) looking for that flight home.
The lesson is hard but true: That which is fragile alone is powerful in numbers.
Sometimes we lose sight of the value of real team work. The “bootstrap myth” of business can often cloud our judgment, provoking us to try and blaze our own path without the assistance of others. Whether a point of pride, ego, or brown bag stubbornness, the attitude is often costly. New agents burn out this way, and even the experienced can become recalcitrant and even bitter.
So I offer you this idea: Like the snowflake, see who you can stick to this year.
